I am a graphic designer retraining for a career as a software developer. I completed a course in web and mobile web development, then followed up with a training programme in application development specialising in Python to consolidate my knowledge in the field.
Why the change of direction? Over my years working as a graphic designer, I came to realise that creating in the abstract left me unsatisfied. To my eyes, art only finds meaning when it serves a concrete purpose. I have always been drawn to computing, which led me to practise programming on and off whenever my career allowed it. It was on those occasions that I understood not only that I preferred programming to design, but also that creating visuals was far more enjoyable when applied to building graphical interfaces. It became obvious that I should steer towards a path that puts both skill sets to work.
Training in web and mobile web development with reinforced English, delivered by Afpa.
Working as both an illustrator and a graphic designer, I fulfil client commissions by creating custom visuals.
Course exploring the graphic arts, including screen printing, computer graphics, mock-ups, packaging, semiology and brand guidelines.
Training in the film-making trades, notably photography, editing, framing, directing, screenwriting and sound recording.
Course focused on learning drawing and graphic tools, as well as art history.
Completed the general secondary curriculum, first with Latin/Greek then sociology/history options.
Designing the visual interface of a web application or showcase site.
End-to-end conception of a brand's visual identity.
Developing web and software applications with the appropriate programming languages.
Producing varied, custom visual assets for all kinds of projects.
Putting a web or software application to the test through unit testing.
French-to-English and English-to-French translation.
